The top secret Ministry of Fear Classification (M.F.C.) was set up by

Winston Churchill in a desperate bid to end the Second World War.

Their aim was to investigate the true meaning of fear, how to contain

it and in turn use it as a weapon.

The research was thorough and ‘tests’ were carried out on living

subjects. These guinea pigs were subjected to chemical testing and

put through torturous, barbaric experiments which included placing

them in horrific simulations of their deepest darkest fears and

passing them off as reality. The subjects were paid well to keep their

mouths shut… if they survived. Their research proved to be a

success and the M.F.C utilised the techniques and effects they

discovered to great triumph. They were soon referred to as the

‘Fright Club’.

However, after the war ended, the Fright Club was no longer needed and their brutal methods were discarded. The majority of the lab workers were professionally ‘disappeared’, but some of the more stubborn ones simply vanished.

Fifty years on, and the old laboratory has been unearthed. A new group of scientists have decided to continue the research that had long since been forcibly abandoned. With genius and insanity in equal measures they have set about re-discovering the dark realms of human psychology.

What is there to fear? At the Fright Club…Everything! Fright Club was the first foray for the members of Apocalypse into creating a fear attraction. It brought to life peoples deepest, darkest fears. In the old abandoned corridors of county hall lurks a secret sect of scientists, black magicians and shady military officials.

Fright Club was set up by Apocalypse working in conjunction with ‘Weird and Wonderful’ (whose attractions include Alien War, the Star Wars: The Exhibition, and the Movieum) and special effects legend Bob Keen (whose past projects include The Empire Strikes Back, Dark Crystal, Hell Raiser, Dog Soldiers). Located on Queens Parade next door to the London Aquarium and the London Eye, Fright Club became an instant success.

The mixture of story telling comedians with ‘creature’ actors produced a great comedy horror show with laughs and gags running along with violent mutant attacks. This was a first for Apocalypse as well as a new kind of scare attraction for the south bank.

Over the past two years, the directors of Apocalypse have been involved in key creative roles in tourist and scare attractions in London. These roles come in addition to performance roles in other attractions.

Although these are not Apocalypse projects, the main creative input was that of Apocalypse members. The following should give you some idea of what we are capable of creating, the challenges faced and the potential for your attraction.
