When Star Wars: The Exhibition opened on May 5th 2007 in London’s County Hall, the members of Apocalypse were presented with a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with one of the industries most exciting companies, Lucasfilm Ltd. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the world’s favourite sci-fi saga, Star Wars: The Exhibition opened in London and displayed many props, story boards, original costumes, masks and models from the Lucasfilm Archives in Northern California, including a spectacular life-sized Naboo N-1 Starfighter.
However, it was the interactive elements of the exhibition that received the most widespread acclaim. The members of Apocalypse assisted in the creation of the Green Screen room where visitors could see the visual effects of the Star Wars movies put into practice and ‘enter the movies’ by fighting alongside a Jedi Knight. Customers would master a choreographed fight routine with a lightsaber then witness themselves on screen side by side with the main characters of the Star Wars saga. The visitor also had the opportunity to meet and be photographed with Star Wars characters and even learn to use the force in Jedi School. In association with Lucasfilm, Apocalypse helped to devise and perform in this interactive show in which audience members could discover the reality of battling the Dark Side, armed with the training of a true Jedi Master.
London was the second leg of a touring exhibit that began in Portugal in 2006 and attracted more than 150,000 visitors in the space of two months. London’s Star Wars: The Exhibition was hugely successful and the tour moved on to Brussels, Belgium, in January 2008.
